GATE 2025 Notification
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, has officially announced the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. This prestigious national-level examination will be conducted across 30 subjects (also referred to as “papers”) on February 1st, 2nd, 15th, and 16th, 2025. GATE 2025 will be conducted as a Computer-Based Test (CBT).
About GATE
The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is a nationwide examination administered in eight zones across India by the GATE Committee, comprising faculty members from IISc Bangalore and seven IITs, under the coordination of the Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
Purpose of GATE:
- GATE qualification is mandatory for:
- Admission and/or financial assistance to Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, and relevant branches of Arts and Science in institutions supported by the Ministry of Education (MoE) and other government agencies.
- Admission in colleges/institutions that admit students without MoE scholarships/assistantships.
- Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs): Many PSUs such as BHEL, GAIL, HAL, IOCL, NTPC, NPCIL, ONGC, and PGCIL use GATE scores for recruitment.
- Central Government Recruitment: GATE scores are used for direct recruitment to Group A level posts like Senior Field Officer (Tele), Senior Research Officer (Crypto), and Senior Research Officer (S&T) in the Cabinet Secretariat, Government of India.

Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification:
Candidates currently in their 3rd year or higher of an undergraduate degree program, or those who have completed a government-approved degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, or Humanities, are eligible to apply. - Age Limit:
There is no age limit for GATE 2025.

Steps to Apply for GATE 2025
- Visit the official GATE 2025 portal: gate2025.iitr.ac.in.
- Click on the “Online Application Form” link.
- Fill in your personal and educational details and upload the required documents.
- Pay the applicable application fee as per your category.
- Submit the application form and take a printout for future reference.
