CSIR UGC NET Exam 2024 Notification

The Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) has officially released the notification for the Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination for December 2024. This exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of CSIR. Eligible candidates can apply online for the exam.

The Joint CSIR-UGC NET exam is held to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the following purposes:

  • Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and appointment as Assistant Professor
  • Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. programs
  • Admission to Ph.D. programs only

CSIR UGC NET Exam Details:

  • Name of the Exam: Joint CSIR-UGC NET Examination December 2024
  • Conducting Body: National Testing Agency (NTA)

  • Mode of Exam: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Language of Exam: Hindi and English
  • Exam Duration: 180 minutes (3 hours)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age Limit:
    • JRF: Not more than 30 years as of 1st February 2025.
    • Relaxation of up to 5 years for candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (as per the Central list), SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender categories, and women applicants.
    • Assistant Professor: No upper age limit for this category.
    • Admission to Ph.D.: No upper age limit for this category.
  • Educational Qualification:
    • General/Unreserved/General-EWS candidates: Must have secured at least 55% marks in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from a recognized institution.
    • OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender candidates: Must have secured at least 50% marks in the Master’s Degree or equivalent examination.
    • Candidates pursuing their Master’s degree or awaiting results can also apply, but their eligibility will be considered only if they secure the required marks after completing their Master’s degree within the stipulated time frame (two years for JRF and one year for Admission to Ph.D. only).

Fellowship Stipend:

  • A JRF selected through CSIR NET will receive a stipend of Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years, along with an annual contingent grant of Rs. 20,000, which will be reimbursed directly to the fellow. Fellowship terms and conditions are governed by CSIR, UGC, or relevant research schemes.

  • General: Rs. 1150
  • General-EWS/OBC(NCL): Rs. 600
  • SC/ST: Rs. 325
  • Third Gender: Rs. 325
  • PwD: Rs. 325

Candidates can make payment via net banking, debit/credit card, or UPI.

  2. Fill in your personal and educational details and upload the necessary documents.
  3. Pay the application fee based on your category.
  4. Submit the form and take a printout for future reference.
