Selection Process for Assam Police Recruitment
The selection process for the Assam Police recruitment involves several stages. Below is a breakdown of each stage, specifically for Assam Police Constable recruitment. For other posts, candidates should refer to the official notifications.
1. Preliminary Verification of Documents
Candidates must submit accurate online applications. Before being allowed to appear for the Physical Standards Test (PST) and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), their original documents and photocopies will be verified. Those who fail to meet the eligibility criteria or submit incorrect/forged documents will be rejected and may face criminal prosecution. Candidates should provide attested copies of all documents, and signatures from the Selection Board members should be included to avoid future discrepancies.
2. Physical Standards Test (PST)
After document verification, candidates will undergo the Physical Standards Test. This is a non-scoring stage that assesses the following parameters:
- Height
- Weight
- Chest measurement (for male candidates) Additionally, candidates will undergo preliminary medical checks, including tests for:
- Knock-knees
- Vision
- Colour blindness
- Flat foot
- Varicose veins
- Any physical deformities
Candidates must clear the PST before proceeding to the PET.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The PET consists of various physical activities where candidates must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria:
- Race:
- Male: 3200 meters in 14 minutes
- Female: 1600 meters in 8 minutes
- Long Jump:
- Male: 335 cm (3 chances)
- Female: 244 cm (3 chances)
- Chin Ups (for Male candidates):
- Less than 4 chin-ups: Disqualified
- 4 chin-ups: 10 marks
- 5 chin-ups: 11 marks
- 6 chin-ups: 12 marks
- 7 chin-ups: 13 marks
- 8 chin-ups: 14 marks
- 9 chin-ups: 15 marks
- 10 chin-ups: 16 marks
- 11 chin-ups: 17 marks

- 14 chin-ups: 20 marks
Note: A candidate will be disqualified if they fail to meet the minimum requirements in any of the above events during the PST or PET.
4. Written Test
Candidates who qualify the PST and PET will be invited to appear for the Written Test, which consists of 100 multiple-choice questions. The test will be based on the following subjects:
- Elementary Arithmetic
- General English
- Logical Reasoning/Mental Ability
- Assam’s History, Geography, Polity, Economy
- General Awareness, Knowledge, and Current Affairs
The test will be conducted in the following languages: Assamese, Bodo, Bengali, and English. For each correct answer, candidates will receive 0.5 marks, and there will be no negative marking. The total marks for the Written Test will be 50.
5. Merit List and Call for Further Rounds
After the completion of the PST and PET for all candidates, merit lists will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the PET (converted into percentage). Candidates will be called for the Written Test in order of merit at a rate of 5 times the number of posts allocated for each category.
Important Notes:
- Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualifying standards in the PST and PET to be eligible for the Written Test.
- There is no provision for claiming a right to appear in the Written Test solely based on meeting the physical standards.
