India Post GDS Recruitment 2025 – Selection Process

The selection process for Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment consists of the following stages:

1. Shortlisting of Candidates

  • The Department of Posts will release a list of shortlisted candidates on the GDS Online Portal.
  • Once the results are declared, selected candidates will be notified via SMS and email on their registered mobile number and email address.

2. Merit List Preparation

  • The merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in the 10th standard (Secondary School Examination).
  • If grades or points are awarded instead of marks, they will be converted into percentage scores up to four decimal places for ranking purposes.

3. Physical Document Verification

  • Shortlisted candidates must visit the designated Divisional/Unit Head Office for physical verification of documents.
  • This verification must be completed within 15 days from the date of shortlisting.

4. Final Selection & Joining Process

  • After successful document verification, candidates must complete the pre-engagement formalities within 30 days from the date of the “Offer of Provisional Engagement”.
  • The joining process includes:
    • A 3-day mandatory basic training program
    • Arranging accommodation (if required)
  • Failure to complete these formalities or report for duty within the stipulated 30 days will result in automatic cancellation of candidature. The vacancy will then be offered to the next eligible candidate.
