State Bank of India (SBI) has issued an official notification for the recruitment of 13,735 Junior Associate (Customer Support and Sales) vacancies in the clerical cadre across various SBI branches in the country. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online for these positions.

Candidates are allowed to apply for vacancies in only one State/UT and can appear for the exam only once under this recruitment. Applicants must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding the specified local language of the State/UT they apply for.

Eligibility Criteria for SBI Junior Associate Recruitment

  • Age Limit:
    • Minimum: 20 years
    • Maximum: 28 years
    • Age should be as of 01.04.2024, meaning candidates must have been born between 02.04.1996 and 01.04.2004 (both days inclusive).
  • Age Relaxation (as per category):
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PwD (Unreserved): 10 years
    • PwD (OBC): 13 years
    • PwD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Educational Qualification:
    • A graduate in any discipline from a recognized University or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.
    • Candidates with an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) should ensure that their IDD certificate is dated on or before 31.12.2024.
  • Final Year Candidates:
    • Candidates in their final year/semester of graduation may apply provisionally, but they must provide proof of graduation completion by 31.12.2024 if selected.
  • Local Language Proficiency:
    • Candidates must be proficient in the specified local language of the State/UT they apply for.

Selection Process for SBI Clerk Recruitment 2025

The SBI Clerk Recruitment selection process consists of three stages: the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination, and the Test of Specified Opted Local Language.


Phase-I: Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination is an online test consisting of Objective Type questions for a total of 100 marks. The test will be conducted for 1 hour and will have three sections as follows:

  • Negative Marking: For every wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted.
  • No Minimum Qualifying Marks: There are no individual section-wise or aggregate minimum qualifying marks in the Preliminary Examination.
  • Shortlisting for Main Exam: Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination (approximately 10 times the number of vacancies, based on the aggregate marks scored).

Phase-II: Main Examination

The Main Examination for SBI Clerk consists of Objective Type questions for a total of 200 marks. The test will be conducted online for 160 minutes and will have the following structure:

  • Negative Marking: 1/4th of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must secure a minimum aggregate percentage, as decided by the bank. There is no minimum qualifying marks for individual sections.
    • Relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks is available for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/ESM/DESM candidates.
  • Merit List: The merit list will be drawn State-wise and Category-wise. Candidates will be ranked based on their aggregate marks in the Main Examination.

Test of Specified Opted Local Language

  • Language Proficiency: Candidates applying for specific states must be proficient in the local language of that state (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding).
  • Exemption from Language Test: Candidates who have studied the specified local language in their 10th or 12th standard (evidenced by a mark sheet or certificate) will be exempted from the language test.
  • For Other Candidates: If selected provisionally, candidates who did not study the local language in their earlier education will have to appear for a language test after the Main Examination but before joining.
    • Failure to Qualify: Candidates failing the local language test will not be offered the appointment.

Final Selection

  • Preliminary Examination (Phase-I): The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be considered for the final selection.
  • Main Examination (Phase-II): The final merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained in the Main Examination.
  • Provisional Selection: Selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in the Main Examination.
