Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) CDS I Examination 2025

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a notification for the recruitment of 457 vacancies through the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2025. Eligible and interested candidates may apply online for the recruitment.

UPSC CDS I Examination 2025 Details:

  • Name of Exam: Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2025
  • Total Vacancies: 457 posts

Training Institute-wise Vacancy:

  • Indian Military Academy, Dehradun: 100
  • Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala: 32
  • Air Force Academy, Hyderabad: 32
  • Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai (Madras), 122nd SSC (Men) (NT): 275
  • Officers Training Academy, Chennai (Madras), 36th SSC Women (NT): 18

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC CDS I Examination:

  • Nationality:
    • Unmarried male or female candidates must be one of the following:
      • A Citizen of India, or
      • A subject of Nepal, or
      • A Person of Indian Origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
    • A certificate of eligibility will be required for candidates in categories (ii) and (iii), except for Gorkha subjects of Nepal.

Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status:

  • Indian Military Academy (IMA): Unmarried male candidates born between 2nd January 2002 and 1st January 2007.
  • Indian Naval Academy: Unmarried male candidates born between 2nd January 2002 and 1st January 2007.
  • Air Force Academy:
    • 20 to 24 years as on 1st January 2026, i.e., born between 2nd January 2002 and 1st January 2006.
    • For candidates with a valid Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India), the upper age limit is relaxed to 26 years.
  • Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for men): Unmarried male candidates born between 2nd January 2001 and 1st January 2007.
  • Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Women Non-Technical Course): Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees who have not remarried, born between 2nd January 2001 and 1st January 2007.

Educational Qualification:

  • IMA & Officers’ Training Academy: Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Indian Naval Academy: Engineering Degree from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Air Force Academy: Degree from a recognized University with Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 level, or a Bachelor of Engineering.

Application Fee:

  • Others: ₹200/-
  • Female/ SC/ ST: No fee
  • Payment Mode: Candidates can pay the fee either by depositing the money in any SBI Branch through cash, using SBI Net Banking, or by using Visa/Master/Rupay Credit/Debit Cards.
